The silver step has been useful for checking straps and reaching my roof rack before trips. I also like that the design includes an emergency glass-breaker point, even though I have not needed to use that feature.
Washing the middle of the roof was always awkward. This gives me enough height to reach farther without balancing on a tire. The silver finish also matches the product photos I saw before ordering.
I keep the silver one with my camping gear. It makes it much easier to reach roof-mounted storage after everything is packed. The hook feels sturdy once it is seated correctly on the door latch.
I tested the silver step on my SUV and it gave me the extra height I needed to reach the roof box without dragging out a ladder. The textured surface felt secure under my shoe and the aluminum body feels solid for its size.
I used to keep a small stool in the garage for roof access. This takes up almost no room and does the same job for quick tasks like securing straps or wiping down the roof.
I tried it on my truck and the fit was straightforward. The platform is not huge, so I place my foot carefully, but the grip pattern helps and the step feels stable for loading roof cargo.
The aluminum construction feels more substantial than the plastic accessories I have tried before. I would still use it carefully and check the latch position first, but it works well for quick roof access.
There is not much to set up. Hook it onto the door latch, make sure it is stable, and step up. It gives just enough extra height to reach the center of my SUV roof.
The anti-slip pattern gives better footing than I expected. I mainly use it for tying down cargo and cleaning the top of my vehicle. It feels much more convenient than standing on the door sill.
It is small enough to store in the door pocket or cargo area, but useful when I need to reach the roof rack. I like that it does not take up much space when it is not being used.
